Polk County Food Resources During COVID-19 Pandemic

With businesses and organizations closing in response to COVID-19, many more people are facing challenges with providing enough food for their family.  There are many resources out there to help.
Food pantries have food and are open during the Safer at Home order.  To pick up prepacked bags, bring identification to the pantry located within your school district.  Right now many pantries are only asking some basic questions to receive food: Name, Address and number of people in your household.  Check out the 2019 Polk County Food Resource Directory for more information on pantry locations and hours: http:// polkunited.org/resources/healthy-eating  It is recommended to call ahead to make sure pantry hours and pick up procedures haven’t changed.

Would you like to help?  If you are able, make a financial donation to your local food pantry. Donations to food pantries are lower during these times, but pantries can place larger food orders through partner agencies at a reduced cost to meet community needs.   Food pantry volunteers are also needed as a high percentage of regular volunteers are not able to help out during this time.
