Finding a unique way to fight drugs
Through a generous donation from the Women’s Group at Parkview United Methodist Church in Turtle Lake, the Turtle Lake Police Department was able to build a billboard that is placed on the west side of Turtle Lake that faces both Hwy’s 8 and 63. The TLPD is hoping that this will be more of a deterrent with criminals knowing that the Village has a dedicated K-9 on duty. Drug arrests have skyrocketed within the Village of Turtle Lake. In 2015 the police department had 56 arrests throughout the year. Drug arrests have risen each year since, hitting 212 in 2018 and 280 last year. Have a drug tip? Message the police department on Facebook and they will be happy to take a look into it. Pictured are K9 Glaze, Officer Jerret Schallock and Chief Al Gabe.
