Deer Hide Donation Surpasses Last Year Totals

While Lions Club deer hide collections dropped during the 2019 season, they rebounded in a big way in 2020. While only 1330 hides were collected a year ago by Lions Clubs throughout the northcentral portion of District 27 E1, area hunters donated 2031 hides during this years season. Donation were up in all the participating Lions Club areas. Amery collected 609 hides, up from 323 a year ago. Chetek nearly doubled, collecting 163 hides after 87 in 2019. The Turtle Lake Club collected 362 hides after only 172 a year ago. The clubs of Shell Lake, Spooner/Trego, Hayward, and two commercial processers from Minong collected 862 total hides, up from 724 in 2019. Larry Behne’s collections were also up to 41 from 24. Two semi trucks traveled to the Gary Solum farm last week to collect the hides. In total there werre 45 pallets of hides.
