Local Writer’s First Novel Features Turtle Lake Area
The Turtle Lake Library hosted a Meet the Author event at the Village Hall on Thursday April 8th for local writer Victoria Brenna. Library director Allison Lutz moderated the 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. event which was well attended and socially distanced by participants and live streamed to many others on the internet and is available for viewing on the Library Facebook page.
The author read short excerpts from her recently published first novel Aria for a Farm: Lean Together or Fall Alone while displaying vintage photos of the Turtle Lake area and farm scenes that related to the novel. Photos were provided courtesy of the Turtle Lake Museum. Victoria answered questions about her book and the writing process and signed copies.
“I am honored by the response to my novel and grateful to the Turtle Lake Library and the Museum for their support,” said the author who is donating copies to both the Library and Museum.
This was the third of several events to launch her book and the first signing in her home town. Turtle Lake is the setting for her 1930s story of a young woman’s attempts to save her farm after the sudden death of her father and her struggle to carve out a future for herself during the challenges of The Depression. Other readings will occur in the area.
