One Final Hurdle For Food Pantry

The Food Pantry is at a crossroads. The pantry needs a walk-in freezer. The Turtle Lake Food Pantry gives out 45,000 to 55,000 pounds of food annually and about 25% of that is frozen food. They currently operate with numerous chest type and upright freezers, but they are not very energy efficient. The Pantry receives food in 40 to 50 pounds cartons and putting these in and dispensing out of cheese freezers is not very workable. A walk-in freezer that is 8’ x 11’ x 8’ costs around $19,800 complete with installation. The Pantry has approximately $9,000 already donated for the freezer, so that leaves them $11,000 short. The Pantry operates on donations only and are not funded by the Village or the State. SEE COMPLETE STORY IN THE TIMES OR READ ONLINE WITH PAID SUBSCRIPTION.
