Northern wins Fishing Contest

A couple of happy fisherwomen were all smiles after a successful ice fishing contest Sunday on Upper Turtle Lake. The contest was sponsored by the Almena Sportsman’s Club. Mother Nature provided a near perfect day to be out on the ice. Hundreds of people were on hand to attempt to match their wits with their prey. Amy Matthews, left, captured first place in the northern category with this 10-pound plus beauty.
