Concern Regarding Lack Of School Board Member On Hiring Committee Discussed

Concerns regarding the hiring process at the Turtle Lake school were discussed at the September meeting of the Turtle Lake school board. Administrator Kent Kindschy opened the discussion by telling the board he does not recommend a recent proposal by a school board member. School board member BJ Quade recently questioned why no school board member is on the Turtle Lake School hiring committee when it comes down to the hiring of educators.

Kindschy said the school board has the job of hiring one person – himself. He added the Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) recommends the same thing. He told the board a recent poll of the CESA 11 school districts showed none of the districts currently have school board members on the hiring committee except when it comes to the hiring of administration. Kindschy said he fells teachers could not be up front at a board meeting with a board member on the hiring committee.  SEE COMPLETE STORY IN THE TIMES OR READ ONLINE WITH PAID SUBSCRIPTION.
