Lack Of Snow Doesn’t Detour Annual Kids Barnebirkie Ski Race

Despite the chilly temperatures and brisk wind, 3rd and 4th grade students from Almena and Ridgeland got together Friday, February 20 for the annual Monessori School Barnebirkie Ski Race. Due to the lack of snow the ski race turned into a foot race on the streets surrounding Shady Side Park in Almena. The students were fitted with their own numbered bibs and received medals of participation upon completion of the race. Hot chocolate and cookies were served by the Barron Area Kiwanis Club following the race.
