James (Jim) Michael Chaney

     James Michael Chaney (Jim), 69, of Turtle Lake passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021. He was born January 13, 1952 in St. Paul, MN to Rose Fahey and James Chaney.
     Jim, known to his brothers and sisters as “Dad”, was a big fan of classic Rock and Roll. He loved his Harley and was always talking about rebuilding it. In addition to his rocking lifestyle, he also loved his Manx cats, Goofy and Dingy, and grew a variety of roses. His heart extended beyond his cats as he loved all of his family and friends and was loved by them the same.
     Jim enlisted in the Army right out of highschool and became a diesel mechanic for a few years after his honorable discharge. That led him to work at Metropolitan Waste Control where he would continue to work for the next twenty years.
     He is survived by his brothers and sisters: Richard Chaney, Jody Valento-Winkler (Mark), Cindy Valento, Joseph Valento (Audrey); nephews: Richard Chaney, Jason Chaney, Mike Myhre, James Valento, Nicholas Winkler; nieces: Dawn Halverson, Kimberly Loger, Rachel Valentine.
     Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Skinner Funeral Home in Turtle Lake. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2021. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 26.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
     Skinner Funeral Home of Turtle Lake is serving the family.
