Turtle Lake Shooters Contribute To Warrbirds Shooting Success
Walker Nykanen, left, and Wyatt Klingelhoets, right, just recently finished competing with the Rice Lake Warrbirds youth shooting team. They shot in tournaments throughout the State of Wisconsin this past spring, placing individually and with the team. Most recently the Warrbirds participated in the Wisconsin State Clay Target Program State Championships. Walker placed 3rd in Junior Varsity Sporting Clays and both Walker and Wyatt were members of the 3rd place finishing Junior Varisty team.
The following weekend Walker was 2nd and Wyatt was 3rd in the JV Handicap Trap (25 yards) in individual competition. Walker’s score was high enough to contribute to Warrbirds overall Team Handicap Champions at Wisconsin Rapids. Over 3000 kids competed in the three Championship shooting series, (Skeet, Sporting Clays & Trap)
“These two boys are a pleasure to coach and have made lifelong friends with other boys on our team and that’s really what it’s all about in the end,” said Coach Dave Frank.
